Friday, Sept. 2. Akureyri.
We get some nice colors from both the natural world and the people-created world up here in Iceland. The unaffected landscape brings in all hues of green and blue that are sliced and studded with dark canyons and black lava rock. Also, because gray-weather days are frequent, locals add brightness to their worlds by painting houses and barns lemon yellow or cherry red or what have you. We are in the country now, and see that the bright colors usually end up on rooftop.
This is Evana from Poland. She's working here this summer in our guesthouse to save money for her first year of college back in Poland. She says she can make five times as much money here as she could working at home.
Breakfast at our guesthouse. No shoes inside is a strict rule. We met people from Frankfort, Germany, Melbourne, Australia and someplace in South Carolina. Also, Evana from Poland.
The yellow building was our guesthouse in Blonduos.

We are at the Hotel Kea tonight, in the town of Akureyri, the top most and center most star above.
Heart-shaped red lights?
Also, there are digital signs that flash a happy face if it clocks you as under the speed limit. If over the speed limit, you get a sad face. I'll try to get a picture. So far, we've earned one of each.
This good moss was of strong interest to Fred.
There is a lot of water falling up here. This is Godafoss Waterfall.
Fred's drop the mic moment. He had been singing.
That is a braided river at the base of the crack in the earth of Iceland. I point it out especially for my Mackenzie, Connor and Allison.
